We lived on a working Italian farm...
The agency that had found the tower property in Paciano told us of another property that we should consider renting on an agriturismo (a bed & breakfast that is also a working Italian farm). This agriturismo had animals (chickens, goats, pigeons, sheep, pigs, horses) in stables down the hill and also olive trees (for its own oil), fruit trees, and saffron. The owner, Luca Bartoccioni, wanted to close the restaurant and rent out the restored farm house long-term. There were five bedrooms (each with bathroom), office, family room (with large fire place), commercial kitchen (large enough to include a dining table), laundry room, and (believe it or not) a large outdoor pool. We had hoped to find something a little closer to the action (this place was three kilometers from the center of Città della Pieve). Nevertheless, it was big enough to accommodate our family and sat smack dab in the middle of an Italian paradise (with a 360° panoramic view of the city on one side and lake Trasimeno on the other). We couldn't resist and ended up living at the Antica Frateria for one year.
