Definitely worth a thousand words...

italy / italian / culture / life / living / way — public squaresI wish I could properly explain Italian culture and the wisdom of the older generation. It's more than fun to come upon a group of older men or women and talk with them. They love to argue and discuss everything and there's always a story to go along with their opinion. It can be more difficult to understand an older person but truly rewarding when you take the time to do so. Their perspective has met the test of time. Of course, the older generation speaks of an Italy long since gone.

The Italian youth speak of nothing but money and sex. And, I can't believe the way young men in Italy speak to young women. There's no respect whatsoever. I remember an incident at the city pool with my son Trevor. Trevor was introducing me to some of his classmates and one boy introduced the girl he was with saying that she was easy (not exactly what he said but you get the point). Later, I asked the girl why she would allow him to speak that way. She told me, "He's going to speak that way whether I say anything or not." I suggested that next time she should slap him and leave.
