Doesn't this face just scream Italian?...

italy / italian / culture / way — giuseppeGiuseppe is married to Rita (who owns the Bar Tebro in Spoleto). He's so Italian... I love this guy! He exemplifies so many great Italian qualities. I remember when we first landed in Italy we thought we would rent a villa in the South of Florence (ahhh Tuscany). We went with a realtor to visit a number of possible properties but were surprised at the difficulty we had in securing a place to live.

For every dozen or so places we saw, there might have been one place that would work for our family. First there was this woman (I called her La Signora Pazza or crazy woman). When we offered to pay the price she was asking, she said that she felt we should pay more because her mother was very rich and had to pay a lot of taxes. (It reminded me of the scene in Under the Tuscan Sun when the woman is trying to purchase the house and since there is another couple interested, suddenly the price is double.) Second there was a man and his parents who said we had too many children when we agreed to rent their six bedroom villa. (What do you do with a six bedroom villa anyway?) The third said pretty much the same as the second. This villa was directly across from the villa (with heliport) of designer Roberto Cavalli. Sadly, I couldn't get rid of any of our children (just kidding).

Frustrated we took a week
off and went into Umbria for a short vacation. We loved the people in Umbria (completely unspoiled by tourism). So, we decided to look for a place there and ended up staying a year in Citta' della Pieve and a year in Spoleto.
