Pizza Italiana...

italy / italian / food — pizzaIn Spoleto, Craig decided that he'd like to have a job so he made friends with the owner of Pizzerìa Zeppelin (named after Led Zeppelin and not the dirigible) and became employed. Craig is very bright and a fast learner. He memorized the prices for every kind of pizza, pasta, and drink on his first day. Customers used to ask him what part of Italy he was from (his Italian was that good). It wasn't long before Paolo (owner guy) asked Craig to work with him in the kitchen. So, Craig learned how to make Italian pizza as a true Pizzaiolo (master pizza maker).

In Italy, you can find several kinds of pizza. Pizza by the slice, pizza by the meter, and personal pizza (which is round). Italians don't heap on the toppings and they use much less sauce and cheese. Every area has its particular toppings. One of the most tasty pizzas in Italy is the simple pizza Margherita. It was the first pizza and was invented as a birthday present for Queen Margherita and uses the colors of the Italian flag. The red tomato sauce, white mozzarella, and green basil... I'll bet you didn't know that.
