Too much vacation fun...
We were used to finding Paige or Savannah sleeping in unique places but this one was pretty interesting. Here Andrew is conked out on the kitchen table (apparently from too much vacation fun)! We crammed our family of nine into a two-bedroom apartment with a closet for a kitchen. It was right off the beach in Pineto (just north of Pescara) which made it easy to go back and forth between the sand and the fresh water pool. The Adriatic Sea was beautiful.Andrew had the most difficulty with the Italian language. He has hearing aids in both ears due to a congenital hearing loss so it took him longer to cross the bridge of language frustration (when it becomes fun rather than annoying). The Italian school system assigned Andrew a teacher (who spoke English) to work with him during a few classes each day. It didn't matter that we were technically "visitors" with an elective residence visa.
One day Paige asked me, "How do you say rabbit in Italian?" Not waiting for my response she exclaimed, "fruciatta!" (It sounded Italian.) Then she asked, "Do you know how to say door in Italian?" Once again, not waiting she said, "fruciatta!" From then on, "fruciatta" (nonsensical in Italian) was the word for the word we didn't know. Sometimes I used it with Italians. It was pretty funny to see their facial expressions as I'm sure they were wondering "What the heck is fruciatta?"
